Who is “Sugar Dolly?”

“Sugar Dolly” was my childhood nickname. When you see our logo, you see my childhood self, because the path to soap making began as my love letter to her.

Hi, I’m Mari (AKA, Sugar Dolly). In 2023, I had just had my third son. With a sleeping newborn in my arms, I knew I needed to find a way to nurture my spirit and sense of joy too.

I’d just stumbled upon a video online teaching the art of soap making and was immediately enchanted. I researched for over a year before finally finding the nerve to buy ingredients and pour my first batch.

In April of 2024, Sugar Dolly Soap Company unveiled its first ever soap bar — The Naked Bar. We were overwhelmed by the support of our emerging business and sold out that very same day.

It didn’t take long to see that we had a community of people who were searching for a vegan soap brand they could trust to serve their skin.

In our first 18 months, my husband and three young boys watched me go from being a full-time working mom who was pouring soap after bedtime to transitioning away from my office job and growing our soap business full-time.

Soap making became a way of rediscovering my purpose outside of motherhood and reconnecting with my childlike wonder through art.

It was a no-brainer that Sugar Dolly Soap Company needed to be founded on its commitment to helping our customers discover the beauty behind self care through products uniquely designed to nurture their skin.
